  • Two Story, 240,000 SF North American Headquarters, Corporate Office, Manufacturing and Warehouse Facility for Knorr Brake Company, LLC (KBC), manufacturer of Braking, Door, and HVAC systems for the Mass Transit Rail Industry. KBC is division of Knorr-Bremse, AG, a Munich, Germany based global leader in the design and manufacture of Brakes, Doors, HVAC, and on-Board OEM systems, aftermarket spare parts, overhaul & maintenance services for the Mass Transit Rail
  • 180,000 SF Manufacturing and Warehouse, 60,000 SF Corporate Office
  • BCA master planned the 24 Acre site and designed the Facility to allow virtually doubling the facility BCA also assisted KBC in evaluating one other site location to confirm this site and master plan best met the long term goals and requirements of the company
  • BCA and the Contractor evaluated several construction systems to best suit the requirements of a high clearance in the manufacturing and production areas and a large 40’x80’ manufacturing bay sizes. The decision to use load bearing tilt-up concrete panels as the exterior skin saved significant construction costs and supported the fast-track construction process
  • The project delivery method consisted of a Schematic Design/Bid to select Contractors, then award to Owner/Architect/Design Build Design Development-Construction Administration format allowing for an aggressive compressed design/construction schedule
  • Construction was completed in less than 12 months
  • The Project earned LEED Gold Certification
  • The Project earned the ACI (American Concrete Institute) Maryland Chapter 2011-2012 award for Excellence in Concrete
